The position is responsible for accounting for companies offering insurance products—accounts payable, general ledger, cash receipts & deposits, financial and statutory reporting, and provider reimbursement, including capitation arrangements.

REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5 – 7 years’ experience in Accounting
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access

TITLE:               Financial Manager

REPORTS TO:      Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

DEPARTMENT:    Accounting

LOCATION:         Irondale, AL

FLSA STATUS:     Exempt

GENERAL SUMMARY: The EWTN Financial Manager is responsible for managing the financial operations of assigned EWTN entities.  Works with the CFO and EWTN managers to develop effective financial processes and reports.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand and promote the overall mission of EWTN and the specific mission of the Accounting Department.
  • Manage the monthly close process for assigned EWTN entities including reviewing general ledger activity, producing financial statements, and analyzing variances from the budget and prior year.
  • Assist department managers in preparing the annual budget.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger system and any systems that provide information which is input into the general ledger.
  • Evaluate all systems used by assigned entities that provide financial information to determine that information is processed in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Work closely with EWTN executives and department managers to learn about EWTN and to provide financial knowledge.
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts quarterly.
  • Supervise the accounts payable processing to ensure that all vendors are paid timely and correctly.
  • Employ cash flow modeling to ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet operational requirements.
  • Document all accounting processes.
  • Prepare required information and documentation for the annual external audit.
  • Assist the CFO to ensure timely completion of annual external audit; filing of all tax returns; and preparation of financial reports for Senior Management and the Board of Governors.
  • Assist CFO with various projects as assigned.
  • Promote a culture of integrity and disciplined stewardship regarding the use of financial resources entrusted to EWTN.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of prior accounting experience.
  • Prior experience supervising personnel.
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong knowledge of internal control concepts and techniques, with sufficient awareness of the indicators of potential fraudulent activity.
  • Ability to establish work priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing processes and recommending improvements.
  • Team player.
  • Flexibility on hours to complete task at hand

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Catholic faith and EWTN mission.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP, as well as proficiency using MS Office.
  • Experience with not-for-profit-accounting.
  • Experience with Concur expense reporting system.
  • Ability to analyze financials and identify trends and areas for opportunity/ improvement.

Skilled Controller needed for a growing Birmingham company. The Controller will be responsible for all the accounting and financial operations of the North American division of a global, publicly traded company. The US operation is currently a small entity but is slated for rapid growth. The Controller will be responsible for accounting closing procedures, profit and loss review, balance sheet reconciliations, managing the audit from external accounting firm, overseeing the payment of tax returns, and helping build out an accounting team. The Controller will need to be able to think and work independently and think strategically.

Requirements

Senior Financial Analyst is needed for division of a global organization. The Senior Financial Analyst will work with executives and senior management to develop costing of products/services for RFPs, RFIs, new sales opportunities, and contract renewals. The Senior Financial Analyst will assist with establishing appropriate pricing for products and services and support the negotiation of fee agreements. Senior Financial Analysts prepare estimates of new or proposed product and service costs, classify labor, material, and overhead costs to compute the unit costs of product or service. They will also analyze data and compile revenue and cost data to develop profitability analysis on a customer basis.

Requirements
Candidates must have a 4-year degree in Accounting or Finance and 5+ years of related experience. Advanced financial modeling skills in Excel is required. Experience building reports in Cognos is a plus. MBA and/or CPA is highly preferred but not required.

Manage the accounting department providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management and others in making educated economic decisions. 

Coordinate the month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes with Corporate Accounting and outside Auditors 
Prepare monthly forecast of future period Financial Statements
Ensure adequate financial controls are in place and verifiable
